Looking for Career Restaurant Occupations?Looking for a new career or job skills?

  • Train through ROP to work in the agricultural, business, industrial, or other job fields.
  • Courses are located countywide, operated by local high school districts.
  • Learn the latest job skills, using industry-standard equipment
  • After successfully completing an ROP course, you may receive a listing of the occupational competencies you mastered.

Why take an ROP class?

  • High school students earn grades and credits toward graduation
  • Gain experience required for immediate employment
  • Participate in courses that offer internships
  • Earn certificates of completion
  • Experience careers that may assist in choosing college majors and enhance college admission applications

ROP courses offer career preparation and sequential learning designed to improve academic skills. Elective courses may include (unpaid) internships and may articulate with Allan Hancock College and Cuesta College.

You Can!Who can take ROP classes?

  • High school students age 16 years and older, and adults. ROP courses are offered to all students without regard to sex, race, color, religion, national origin, ancestry, sexual orientation, physical disability, medical condition, or marital status.
  • First priority extended to high school students. Adults within the communities in a career major sequence have next priority.

Where do I register?

  • High school students should see their high school counselor.

Articulation Agreements

Articulation is a planned process that links Santa Lucia ROP with Allan Hancock College and Cuesta Community College. It minimizes needless course duplication, and allows for students to receive college credit for college level work completed at SLROP. Courses for which the agreements are in place are:
